The city of West Burlington is paving the way for the construction of a few more single-family homes.

It auctioned off five vacant lots, this month, along West Glasgow Street, where the city's former public works facility once stood.

West Burlington is moving ahead with plans to demolish a former school.

West Burlington is proceeding with plans to build a new home for several city departments.

The West Burlington City Council has hired Snyder and Associates (Ankeny, IA) to design a new public works facility.

The roughly 22,000 square foot building would be located at the intersection of Mount Pleasant and Washington Streets.

City Administrator Dan Gifford says Snyder and Associates will also oversee the bid process.

He says the new facility would replace three, aging buildings currently used by the water, streets, sewer and parks departments.
