presidential search

Southeastern Community College has identified its next president.

The college’s Board of Trustees has chosen Dr. Michael Ash from a field of 30 candidates.

The trustees said, in a news release sent Friday morning, that the details of Ash’s contract and his official start date have not been finalized.

They will be voted on, though, during a future meeting.

Ash previously served as Executive Assistant to the President for Resource Development and External Affairs at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO.

The Board of Trustees for Southeastern Community College (SCC) has revealed the three finalists in its search for a new college president.

They are Dr. Michael Ash, Dr. Keith Cornille and Dr. Dale Doty.

Dr. Ash currently serves as Executive Assistant to the President for Resource Development and External Affairs at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO.

Southeastern Community College has narrowed the field in its search for a new president.

Board of Trustees Chairman Brian Roth says the college received 30 applications from individuals interested in replacing current President Beverly Simone.

Simone is retiring after 6 ½ years with SCC.

Roth says a search committee, consisting of college and community leaders, has identified three finalists.

He says they were selected based on a review of the candidates and a series of SKYPE interviews conducted Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

The list of candidates to be Spoon River College's next president is down to five finalists. They come from across the country.

Interviews and public forums will be held during the next few weeks.  The forums will be held at 8:30 am and 2:10 pm at all four SRC campuses via the school's Interactive Video System:

February 29. Mr Curt Oldfield, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta, Iowa. He was previously Dean of Instruction at SRC.

March 5. Ms Carol Davis, Vice President of Community Outreach at SRC.
