The third day of trial began with Amy Beavers, Des Moines County Attorney, reading the official charge of Murder in the 1st Degree against Jorge Sanders-Galvez, 23, of Missouri and then informing the court of his previous plea of not guilty. Sanders-Galvez is accused of killing Kedarie Johnson, 16, of Burlington in March 2016.

The Burlington Police Department has charged two men in connection with the death of Kedarie Johnson, 16, of Burlington in March 2016.

The Burlington Police Department is claiming the statements made by an Iowa lawmaker about the death of a Burlington teenager are "completely inaccurate." That claim is disputed by State Senator Matt McCoy (D-Des Moines), who said he spoke based on information he received from a "reliable source."
