The McDonough County Health Department temporarily closed a popular Mexican restaurant in Macomb. Guadalajara Bar and Grill on East Jackson Street passed a routine health inspection with conditions on Monday, August 28. The health department noted in its report four violations that could present a food borne illness risk and three repeat violations.

The McDonough County Health Department closed Guadalajara’s Bar and Grill for 48-hours and imposed a $3,000 fine after the restaurant failed a surprise inspection Monday afternoon.

Guadalajara’s scored a 63 out of 100 on the inspection. It was the restaurant's lowest score to date, and fell far short of the 75 it received last time it was shut down by the health department in December 2014.

The McDonough County Health Department told reporters they would need to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to obtain information about why the agency temporarily closed a restaurant in Macomb.
