FMPD Arrest Nebraska Man for Terrorism Threat

A former employee at Scott's Company in Fort Madison was arrested in connection with a bomb threat at the plant last fall. William Cochenour II, 23, of Tecumseh, Neb. is charged with Threat of Terrorism, which is a class D felony.

There is a new man in charge of the Fort Madison Police Department as Captain Bruce Gustafson has been promoted to interim Police Chief. City Manager David Varley made the announcement in a brief email Tuesday afternoon.

Matthew Munz, 34 of Wever, faces multiple charges, including two counts of assault on a peace officer, following a pursuit that spanned two states over the weekend. Fort Madison Police Chief Bruce Niggemeyer said his department was alerted Friday evening that Munz was being pursued by authorities in Hancock County.

Niggemeyer said a road block was set up at the BNSF bridge that spans the Mississippi River between Niota, Ill. and Fort Madison, but Munz was able to avoid it and some stop strips.
