"For most of our trafficking victims this is kind of where we're going to start," says Jamie Manzer, as she gives a tour of the SASA (Spouse Abuse Sexual Assault) Crisis Center, where she worked until recently.

My knees turned to liquid and my legs shook uncontrollably. My hands trembled. Sweat beaded at my hairline and my palms were slippery wet.  I fought the urge to throw up.


Those who work for Illinois organizations that provide services to survivors of domestic violence say the fact that there's no funding for them in the soon-to-expire state spending plan was an unfortunate surprise.

Former Donnellson Police Chief William Sackett is due in court early next month. He was charged in May with one county of simple domestic abuse assault.

The charges have been dropped against former McDonough County Assistant States Attorney Charles Munson.

Munson, 39, of Macomb was fired by State's Attorney James Hoyle after being accused of injuring his girlfriend's hand during an argument.
