Ameren Selects Route for New Transmission Lines

The Illinois Commerce Commission will soon be asked to approve the route for new transmission lines that will stretch from the Mississippi River to the Indiana border.

Ameren Transmission Company is calling it the Illinois Rivers Project. It will run near communities such as Quincy, Pawnee, and Mt Zion plus there will be a branch extending north from Meredosia to Ipava.

Ameren Illinois Told to Cut Rates

A consumer watchdog group approves of the Illinois Commerce Commission’s decision to order a $48 million electric delivery rate cut for Ameren customers.

But Citizens Utility Board spokesman Jim Chilsen says the utility company has yet to improve on its plan for upgrading the power grid as part of the ‘smart-grid’ legislation approved by Illinois lawmakers last year.  Ameren filed its proposal for new rates after the measure passed.

Chicago Power Plant, Downstate Rate Hikes

Downstate Illinois and suburban customers could see natural gas rates increase if Governor Pat Quinn signs legislation (SB 3766) intended to help a proposed power plant in Chicago.

That is the assertion from manufacturing, agricultural and environmental groups.
