WIU Provost to Leave for Texas School

Macomb, IL – WIU Provost Joe Rallo got a chance this school year to serve as a university president for a couple months. Now, he'll get to see what the job is like full-time. Angelo State University is ready to hire Rallo as its next president, pending final approval from the Texas State University System Board of Regents. Rallo believes he helped create a sense of trust in the provost office during his four years in Macomb. He says state budget cuts were a big challenge to deal with during his first couple years here. Rallo also says the town-gown relationship between Macomb and WIU is superb and feels that is something he'll miss. Rallo served as Western's president for the final two months of 2006 while Al Goldfarb recovered from prostate cancer surgery. Rallo will begin his new job on June First. For now, he'll continue working on Western's Master Plan process.
