Wireless Education System Stalls In Hamilton

Hamilton, IL – Efforts to develop a wireless education system in Hamilton have hit another roadblock. Hamilton recently approved a contract with Illinois-based Derbytech Inc. to install an antennae on the city's water tower. The antennae would connect Hamilton to Carl Sandburg College's Edunet system. Instead of signing the deal, though, Derbytech sent it back with a significant number of changes. Mayor Steve Woodruff says the city has tried to cooperate, but the requests from the company would have a negative impact on Hamilton. Derbytech wants a longer timeframe to make repairs and limited liabilities, expenses, and shut-down requirements if the antennae impacts water plant operations. The city council has asked Hamilton's attorney to meet directly with Derbytech's lawyers to see if a compromise is possible.
