Vilsack to Kick Off Presidential Campaign Thursday

Donnellson, IA – The 2008 Presidential campaign already has a local feel to it as a prominent Southeast Iowa lawmaker is making a run for the White House. Governor Tom Vilsack was the first Democrat to officially file the necessary paperwork to start his presidential campaign. Prior to being elected Governor, 8 years ago, He served in the state senate and as the mayor of Mt. Pleasant. The Governor says the time is right for him to move out of state government because the recent election showed him that voters want new leadership in Washington DC. Vilsack will formally announce his run for President during an event in Mt. Pleasant Thursday morning. That event will kick off a multi-state tour. Scheduled stops include New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and South Carolina.
