Veteran Lee County Politician Leaving Office

Fort Madison, IA – A veteran of Lee County's political scene is leaving office. Joe Kowzan decided to not seek another term in office, earlier this year, so he will be leaving the Lee County Board of Supervisors when the calendar turns to January. While he enjoyed his time in public office, Kowzan says he is ready for a change. Kowzan's political careet saw him serve on the Fort Madison City Council, the Lee County Board of Supervisors, and as mayor of Fort Madison. He says he will have no problem keeping busy, both at home and as the Vice President of the North Lee County Community Foundation. Kowzan says he will not be following the paths of others and simply take a break before returning to politics. Ernie Schiller will replace Kowzan as District 3 Supervisor.
