US Senator Visits Nauvoo

Nauvoo, IL – The increasing tourism industry in one West Central Illinois community prompted a recent visit by a leading US Senator. During a recent tour of central Illinois to discuss a proposed tax on oil companies, Senator Dick Durbin stopped in Nauvoo. The Democrat from Illinois says the visit came about because it has been some time since he toured the community. During his stop, Durbin watched a 20 minute movie on the early days of Nauvoo. The senator also rode through the town in a horse-drawn wagon. Tourism Director Rustin Lippincott says Nauvoo hosts several hundred thousand tourists each year.
