US Senator Says Border Security Crucial

Kahoka, MO – One U-S Senator from Missouri says the key to dealing with the immigration issue is tightening up our border with Mexico. Senator Kit Bond (R) says Congress's focus should be on coming up with money for more border agents, detention facilities, detection sensors, and unmanned aircraft patrols. He says any piece of immigration legislation must include methods for finding where the illegal immigrants are and registering them. Bond says it is important to make sure those who are in the US are paying taxes and receiving a fair wage so they do not take jobs that could be held by Americans. The Senator says amnesty should not be an option. Bond says communication must also be improved between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies when it comes to illegal immigration. He made his comments during a town hall meeting in Kahoka.
