The Tri States Public Radio Galesburg Bureau is Open
Our recent on-air expansion into the Galesburg area prompted the opening of a new bureau office to better serve our new listening area.
The office will maintain a two person staff; Heather Norman, Underwriting and Outreach Coordinator and Carla Sanders, Galesburg Correspondent. This gives a better ability to turn some focus to news from Galesburg and the surrounding area, but will also allow us to offer a better service to our underwriters and, most importantly- our new listeners. Soon we will also add interns from Knox College to the office.
The office is located at 161 S. Cherry Street (the Old City Hall building), and is open 8:00am- 4:30pm Monday- Friday. You can listen to Tri States Public Radio in Galesburg on 90.7FM WVKC.
Carla Sanders comes to us with years of both broadcasting and teaching experience. Carla is a native Illinoisan, who grew up in Kankakee and Park Forest, Illinois. She has a B.A in Communications and Classical English Literature from DePaul University; as well as a graduate degree in Communications from NIU, and one in Broadcast Journalism from the U of I at Urbana-Champaign.
Heather Norman is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, but she now lives in Galesburg with her husband and their two dogs. She has a BA in philosophy and psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and has lived in Illinois for the past 20 years, moving to Galesburg in 1999. In 2001 she became the Director of the Galesburg Civic Art Center and remained so until taking the Underwriting and Outreach Coordinator position in the new bureau.
