Traffic Stop Yields Drug Arrests

McDonough County Sheriff's Department

Macomb police said they pulled over the driver of a car who seemed to be having trouble finding her way around the downtown area early Wednesday.

That stop ended with two women behind bars on drug-related charges:

  • Deloris Darnell, 27, of Davenport, is charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance 100-to-400 grams; Controlled Substance Trafficking; and No Valid Driver’s License.
  • Monique Nicholson, 34, of Daveport, is charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance 100-to-400 grams and Controlled Substance Trafficking.

Police said they found 228 grams of cocaine in the vehicle along with $2,600 cash. They estimated the cocaine had a street value of $22,800 to $25,000.

Police said this was not Darnell’s first run-in with the law. She was on federal probation for Manufacture/Delivery of Cocaine Base.
