Teens Arrested for Burlington Arson

The Burlington Police Department arrested Austin Williams, 13, of Burlington and Daniel Lynn, 13, also of Burlington, in connection with a "suspicious" fire at Corse Elementary School.

The juveniles are charged with 2nd Degree Arson, which is a Class C Felony that carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.

The Burlington Fire Department responded to an automatic fire alarm at the school at 9:07 P.M. on Sunday, August 5.  They discovered a fire on the roof and smoke in the hallways.

The estimated damage to the school is less than $10,000.

Williams and Lynn were taken to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center after their arrest.

The investigation into the fire at Corse Elementary is ongoing.

The Burlington School District says the school will open on time for the first day of school.
