Swine Facility to Settle Complaints

Colmar, IL – A swine facility near Colmar will pay $27,000 in a proposed settlement with the Illinois Pollution Control Board. A citizen complaint last October alleged the facility caused odors and was polluting a tributary of Troublesome Creek. As part of the agreement, Pinnacle Genetics will upgrade its incinerator facilities for dead stock, improve a composting operation and prevent drainage from reaching the creek. It will also stop building manure piles along an access road.
