Summer of Construction in Canton, MO

Canton, MO – Canton, MO's new mayor says this summer has been one of flood recovery, sewer construction, and road repair.

Terry Fretwell has tried to hit the ground running in the NE Missouri community. This is his second run as mayor, having previously served for five years earlier this decade.

Fretwell has also served as volunteer fire chief and as emergency management coordinator. He says decided to run for mayor, again, to give back to the community that has given him so much.

Fretwell says he has been focusing on several projects during his first few months on the job. The projects include flood recovery and park improvements.

Fretwell says the city will also work to improve the downtown district and to repair streets and sewer lines. He says one project that may not move forward, due to a lack of funding, is the construction of a new city hall.

Fretwell says he would also like to see improvements at the city's recreation vehicle park near the Mississippi River and commercial development in that part of Canton.
