Speedy Timeline for Burlington Schools

The Burlington School District has established an aggressive timeline in its search for a new superintendent.

Current Superintendent Jane Evans announced on May 12 that she would be retiring effective June 30.

The Burlington School Board wants the new superintendent to start July 1.

President Marlis Robberts says online applications are due June 16.

Ray & Associates out of Cedar Rapids is leading the search.  It will narrow the list of candidates to around 12 and present their names to the board by June 20.

Robberts says the board will then cut the list to 5-6, with interviews scheduled for June 23 & 24.  She says two finalists will be brought in for final interviews on June 27.

Robberts says the Burlington School Board has finalized the qualities it wants to see in the district's next school superintendent, based in part on more than 600-responses to a community survey.

Leading the way were the ability to present a positive image of the district, dynamic leadership and people skills.

The minimum salary for the position has been set at $185,000.

Robberts says the new superintendent’s first duty will be to select a new curriculum director to succeed Laurie Noll, who resigned to become superintendent in Fairfield.

Ray & Associates is also leading the search for a new curriculum director.  It will be paid $5,500 on top of the $8,500 for the superintendent search.
