In The Sierra Madre

Macomb, IL – A new book by a Macomb-based author is both a travel memoir and a history lesson about the Sierra Madre. The book's title is "In The Sierra Madre." It was written by Jeff Biggers, who accompanied his wife Carla eight years ago while she was doing her dissertation research down in Copper Canyon in the Sierra Madre of Mexico. They lived among a remote tribe, with Jeff Biggers working as a lumberjack or in the corn fields while Carla conducted her research. Biggers says he simply tried to fit in as part of a traditional village. He did not intend to write a book but he kept coming across amazing stories that he felt needed to be told. You can listen to News Director Rich Egger's conversation with Biggers by clicking on the audio button above. Biggers will hold book readings and signings Saturday September 16 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at New Copperfield's Book Service on Macomb's courthouse square.
