Shop Talk - November 24

Macomb, IL – The panelists talk about news websites that serve as clearing houses - sites such as Huffington Post, Salon, and Slate.com.

The sites provide a wealth of information. But (especially in the case of Huffington Post) much of the information comes from other news sources. There are few reporters on staff to generate the content.

If these sites draw advertising dollars away from traditional news organizations, where will the money come from to pay talented journalists to report the stories? The issue continues to be the subject of debate among those in the news industry.
