Macomb, IL – The panelists talk about TV news consultant Frank Magid, who died in early February.
Magid is credited with - or blamed for - changing local TV news in the 1970s. Magid's consulting firm shaped local newscasts with shorter stories and more visuals. He also encouraged "happy talk" between anchors.
In addition, Magid introduced the "Action News" format and encouraged local stations to launch morning newscasts.
