Shop Talk - January 5

Macomb, IL – The panelists talk about the new Freedom of Information Act law in Illinois.

The changes were approved by state lawmakers in May. They went into effect just a few days ago (January 1) yet the Illinois Municipal League is already whining about the burden it will supposedly impose on local governments.

FOIA is designed to ensure open government. It's not just for reporters - it's a tool for any citizen to use. The panelists believe the new law should be given a chance to work and can later be tweaked if some changes are needed.
