Macomb, IL – The panelists discuss a recent survey that indicates growing pessimism among news directors.

The survey was conducted by the Project for Excellence in Journalism with the cooperation of the Radio Television Digital News Association and the American Society of News Editors.

The survey found broadcast newsroom leaders feel their industry is headed in the wrong direction. Half the respondents (from print and broadcast newsrooms) think their news operations will not survive another ten years.

The panelists feel the industry deregulation of the mid-1990s allows stations to cut back on news and focus on the bottom line.
