December 2, 2008 – The panelists discuss whether the federal government should bail out the struggling newspaper industry. It's not likely to happen but it's worth discussing. Information is vital for a democracy and newspapers remain an important source of information for many people. Government help for newspapers is not unprecedented. Two examples are lower postage rates for papers and the Newspaper Preservation Act from the 1970s.
