Sheriff Gets Aid With Investigation

Macomb, IL – The McDonough County Sheriff's Department will get help from other agencies as it looks into the death of a young girl who lived near Industry. Sheriff Mike Johnson says a Macomb Police Department detective and Illinois State Police investigators will work on the case with members of his own department. An autopsy shows five-year old Silven Yocum died from blunt force trauma to the back of the head. In addition, she suffered from fractured bones, internal injuries, and bruises. She was taken to McDonough District Hospital more than one week ago. She was later flown to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where she died Saturday morning. The sheriff's department does not anticipate releasing more information about its investigation until Thursday.
