Senator Wants Prison Opened
Rushville, IL – Illinois State Senator John Sullivan wants the un-opened prison at Rushville converted into a facility for sex offenders. The prison was built to house juveniles, but never opened because of state budget woes and a decreasing juvenile prison population. Sullivan says Rushville spent much money on roads, sewers, water lines and a water tower to lure the prison. He says the state should move the sex offenders who must be kept in custody away from the aging Joliet facility to Rushville.
