Macomb, IL – The Western Illinois Museum is counting on you to stop counting calories for a couple hours Saturday afternoon.

The Seventh Annual Ice Cream Tasting Festival will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at The Old Dairy in Macomb. Tickets are $6.00. They can be purchased in advance or at the door.

12 Blue Bunny Ice Cream flavors not normally offered at the Old Dairy will be available for sampling. They are:

Banana Split
Butter Pecan (No sugar)
Chocolate Brownie Extreme
Coffee
Huckleberry
Mango Sorbet
Mocha Almond Fudge
Pineapple Sherbet
Praline Pecan
Spumoni
Vanilla Storm
White Chocolate Caramel

"It's really a good fundraiser for the museum," said museum board member Gil Belles. "It gives everybody an opportunity to - pardon the expression - pig out on ice cream. For only six bucks you can get scoops and scoops and scoops of all the different flavors."

Belles said Blue Bunny donates all the tubs of ice cream and The Old Dairy provides the venue and staff. The money raised goes directly to the museum.

"We put it right into the collection and exhibits and ongoing expenses," said Belles. "We still have a mortgage we're paying off for the rehabilitation of the building and that's a big chunk every month."

Belles said people can also visit the museum Saturday afternoon for a special treat.

Glass advertising slides from the old Lark Theater will be exhibited. Belles said the slides were used in special projectors to show ads between movies.

Visitors can also check out the museum's current exhibit. "The Courthouse Square: A History in the Making" will remain on display through September 11.
