SCC Names Its Presidential Choice

West Burlington, IA – Southeastern Community College has been searching for a new president for months. The Board of Trustees has now made its decision. The board voted unanimously on Monday night to offer the position to Dr. Beverly Simone of Madison, WI. Simone most recently served as the Director of Academics and Quality at the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates. SCC Trustee Jeff Heland believes Simone has the qualities needed to be the next president of the southeast Iowa school. He says the board hopes to have Simone's response by the end of this week or early next week. She is still considering offers from several other colleges. Heland says contract negotiations will begin once Simone accepts SCC's offer. If she declines it, the board would have to decide whether to start the presidential search process over.

In other action, the Board of Trustees extended the contract of Interim President Don Roby until no later than October 27. The board also named Moudy Nabulsi of Fort Madison as its new president, and Lanny Hillyard of Mediapolis as its new vice-president.
