SCC has its new president

West Burlington, IA – Southeastern Community College has its new president. Dr. Beverly Simone says she accepted the offer to serve as SCC's president because the college seemed to be the best fit for her. Simone signed a 3-year contract that includes a base pay of $130,000 plus benefits. She most recently served as the Director of Academic and Quality at the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates. After narrowing the field of 26 candidates down to 2, SCC's Board of Trustees offered the job to Simone several weeks ago. She was also a finalist for presidential openings at two other midwestern colleges. Her first day on the job will be November 14. She replaces Jim Richardson, who left the college this summer to take a similar job in Washington state. Don Roby has served as interim president since then.
