SCC Finalizes Spending Plan

West Burlington, IA – Southeastern Community College's budget for next year contains a very slight property tax rate hike. The Board of Trustees has adopted SCC's budget for the fiscal year starting in July. Vice President Dick Springsteen says the budget includes a property tax hike of just under $0.01/$1,000 of assessed property value. He says the state's property tax formula means homeowners will not be impacted by the increase. Springsteen says property tax dollars account for a small percentage of the overall budget for SCC. He says the staffing levels and tuition rates for next year are still being calculated. Springsteen says the budget calls for an increase in tuition revenue, which will likely be generated by more students or by higher tuition rates.
