An effort to restore more than a dozen buildings in downtown Burlington is back on track.
The city received a $500,000 grant several years ago. The money was to be used to improve the facades of 16 different buildings along Jefferson Street.
Steve Frevert, the Director of Downtown Partners, said many delays occurred during the planning stage, but organizers are ready to get started.
"All the designs have been approved, the building owners are all on board, and the council will formally award the bid next Monday night (Aug. 18)," Frevert said.
The potential improvements include fresh coats of paint, brick work, and new awnings.
Frevert expects construction to start in September.
