Organizers of Galesburg’s Railroad Days said they expect the event to draw a much larger crowd due to a change in scenery.

Some of the weekend’s activities are moving back to Main Street after more than a decade away. Planning Committee Co-Chair Dennis Clark said the move came at the request of downtown businesses.

Clark said with very few street vendors attending the event, local shops have an opportunity to be on display.

“I know some of the businesses have already talked about coming out of their front door with some tables and things like that of what they have in their store," Clark said. "I’m sure that will be the case.”

The carnival will be spread around the public square with numerous attractions happening downtown.

The festival coincides with the largest train and toy show in the Midwest at Carl Sandburg College. A shuttle will provide transportation between the two events.
