Port Authority To Use Grant Money

Keokuk, IA – The Southeast Iowa Regional Economic And Port Authority hopes to use some state grant money to explore partnership opportunities. The authority has already agreed to use a portion of the $80,000 grant to pay for a study at the Keokuk Municipal Airport. It would focus on economic development and intermodal opportunities. Chairman Lowell Junkins says the authority wants to use this money to craft a better picture of what is available, and what is needed, in Lee County. He expects other partnership opportunities to develop. Junkins says it is important that the authority utilize these dollars in a positive manner so the state feels it is appropriate to provide more funding. Keokuk or the Airport Commision must come up with a local match of roughly $6,500 for the study.
