Park District Attorney Resigns

Macomb, IL – The Macomb Park District is looking for a new attorney. Current legal counsel John Carter is resigning, effective at the end of the year. Carter served as the park district's attorney for seven years. He's stepping down to focus on his duties as McDonough County's public defender. Carter says the state no longer allows that person to have any outside practice. The resignation was announced during the park board's December meeting.
Also at the meeting, commissioners approved the district's proposed tax levy. The park system will ask for $483,000 in property tax money. This year it received around $430,000.
