No Changes to Macomb Recycling Program

Macomb, IL – Macomb and Waste Management have reached an agreement regarding the city's recycling program. Questions arose after a fire last weekend destroyed a recycling center operated by Bridgeway. Waste Management hauled tons of garbage to the facility every month. The company told Macomb aldermen earlier this week that it might have to suspend the recycling program or charge the city more money for hauling items to a different recycling center. But Mayor Mick Wisslead says the company has now agreed to continue the recycling program at no extra cost. The trash will be shipped to a facility in Galva. Wisslead also says Waste Management will work with Bridgeway to help it get the Macomb recycling center functioning again. Waste Management is in the final year of its contract with Macomb.
