Macomb, IL – After a lengthy search, Macomb has selected its new public works director. Aldermen this week unanimously approved hiring Walter Burnett. He's currently the Maintenance Operations Manager for Beverly Hills, CA. Burnett has 32 years experience in public works. He says there are a couple challenges facing the Macomb department. One is to stretch the available resources. The other is to replace the numerous employees who have retired or will soon retire. Burnett is looking forward to a move back to Illinois. He worked for eight years in Schaumburg and his wife is originally from Pekin. They want to live closer to their children and grandchildren who reside in the Chicago area. Burnett will begin the new job on December 4 and his starting salary is $79,000.
