Macomb, IL – Macomb High School has a new principal. The Board of Education unanimously agreed to hire John Rumley.
Superintendent Alene Reuschel says Rumley is the right person for the job. "When we started this process all of our administrators, myself included, were reticent with the time-frame involved that we would find the right candidate," Reuschel says.
"The stars have aligned," Reuschel says. "We are very pleased. Yes, we found the right candidate. Mr. Rumley comes with high school teaching experience."
Rumley has been an educator for 25 years. He has been the principal at Illini Bluffs High School in Glasford for 3 years. Prior to that he was an assistant principal in the Princeton School District. Reuschel says he has also been a basketball coach for 25 years.
"He comes well prepared," says Reuschel. "He comes from a large school background. He taught up north, he's been in urban schools, and medium sized schools. So he understands the needs and the kinds of challenges presenting a school of about 600."
Rumley's contract is for 1 year. His salary is $84,000. Rumley will start his duties at the beginning of next month.
Rumley replaces Zac Chatterton, who resigned to take the job as principal at Dunlap Middle School.
