New Director Needed for Buchanan Center in Monmouth

Rich Egger

Susan Twomey, Executive Director of the Buchanan Center for the Arts, has announced her plans to retire in a few years.

In the meantime, Twomey said she looks forward to training her replacement and benefiting from having that person around to provide extra help.

“That will allow me to be able to facilitate some of the other things we have going on here ," Twomey said. "So that I’m not doing everything by myself.”

Twomey said executive director is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, long-term planning, and fundraising efforts.

“I think someone who is passionate about their community and hoping to use the arts as a way to facilitate our continued growth is a huge plus," Twomey said.

Twomey said the successful candidate also needs to be prepared to live in west central Illinois.

“We are a rural art center and this community is wonderful," Twomey said. "But not everyone is suited for rural life.”

Applications are available online at the Buchanan Center for the Arts websitethrough September 15.
