Nauvoo, IL – Nauvoo aldermen want moe information befoe they proceed with an ordinance allowing them to charge impact fees. Mayor John McCarty says these charges, should the council decide to charge them, could help he city pay for some of the costs of development in the ciy. He says fees could cover extra meetings or part of the cost of new water or sewer lines. McCarty says there's a fine line between helping to cover expansion costs or charging enough to discourage new businesses. He says aldermen will see what other towns are doing and discuss the issue at a future council meeting.
