Macomb aldermen have decided where medical marijuana facilities can open within city limits.
Cultivation centers will be allowed only in agricultural and general manufacturing districts. Dispensaries will be permitted in general business and light manufacturing districts.
State law requires cultivation centers to be at least 2,500 feet away from schools, day care centers and homes while dispensaries must be at least 1,000 feet from the same locations.
The city councils approval of the zoning for the facilities does not guarantee a business will set up shop in Macomb. Only 60 dispensaries and 22 cultivation centers will be able to open across the state.
