McDonough Farmland Values Drop ... Again

Macomb, IL – McDonough County farmland values will drop an average of ten percent this year. Supervisor of Assessments Tammy Camp says this will be at least the fourth consecutive year of falling values. She says new state regulations this year mean some property might drop more than 10 percent in value, others will drop less. She says the falling values are influenced by land prices, interest rates, and several other factors. After this year, with the tax bills due in 2007, the state will return to its normal limit of no more than a 10-percent change up or down in any one year.
