Marketing Rushville's TIF District

Rushville, IL – Rushville is hiring a firm to help market its downtown TIF district.

Mayor Scott Thompson says the city hired engineering and consulting firm PGAV of St. Louis. Thompson says the firm helped the city establish the TIF district. "We need to help businesses better understand the purpose of the TIF district," Thompson says.

Thompson says everyone benefits from locating in a TIF district. "We need to be able to get the word out that if there are businesses that want to expand within the city of Rushville or that might want to relocate to Rushville that not only is a TIF district established, but what programs we have they might be able to participate in," Thompson says.

Thompson says some of those programs include reimbursement for projects, grant and loan programs, and tax abatements. "Not all TIF agreements are the same," says Thompson. "You might have an agreement that lasts for 10 years and be the reimbursement of a certain dollar amount. Others might be in the form of a grant or loan. Everyone has different needs. The TIF agreement can be negotiated to help fit their particular purpose."

Thompson says the cost to use the firm's services will range from $150-$450 per hour. That figure varies based on what type of work the firm is doing.
