Major Midwest Farm Changes Coming

Macomb, IL – The former president of the National Corn Growers Association says the need for fuel will cause major changes in Midwest farming. Len Corzine says corn growers should be able to meet much of the demand -- they've increased production 50 percent over the past few years. However, he says ethanol plants will have to work with livestock growers to make the byproduct -- dried distiller's grains -- more suitable for livestock use. Others at the show say the change is likely to increase the prices of items farmers need. Higher grain prices are likely to be offset by higher prices for other inputs.
