Macomb's Second Amtrak Run Debuts

Macomb, IL – The inaugural run of the "Carl Sandburg," the second daily Quincy-Chicago train pulled into Macomb to an arch of purple-and-gold balloons and a band. The run will complement the "Illinois Zephyr, which leaves Quincy in the early morning and arrives in Chicago before noon. Macomb Mayor Mick Wisslead says the new trips should benefit the hospitality and tourism industry and be good for business travelers as well. WIU President Al Goldfarb complimented the speed of state legislators in helping with funding for the trip. He says it was only last spring that he was called to testify to legislators on the need for increased service between Macomb and Chicago.
