Macomb To Fix Water Problem

Macomb, IL – Water quality has been an issue in Macomb's northeast quadrant for several years. Now the city is hoping to resolve the problem. Aldermen will be asked next week to approve hiring McClure Engineering to draw up design plans and specifications for a water main replacement project. Those design plans will cost more than $30,000. In addition, the water main replacment work could cost close to $600,000. City Administrator Mike Hays says Macomb will seek federal grant money to help offset the cost. Public Works Director Terry Wrestler says the city tried several other solutions before deciding the water mains need to be replaced.
