Macomb Council to Consider Bike Path

Macomb, IL – Macomb aldermen Monday will be asked to support the idea of a bike path from the northeast edge of town to the East Jackson Street shopping area. The project is being proposed by the McDonough County Trails and Greenways Committee. Member Dave King says the quarter-mile asphalt trail would offer a safe and direct route that would keep walkers and bikers from having to go along East Jackson Street with its heavy traffic. King says 80 percent of the $112,000 project could come from Illinois Department of Transportation Enhancement Funding. The application deadline is August 1.
