Macomb Celebrates Its 175th

Macomb, IL – Heritage Days has become a tradition for the final weekend of June in Macomb. This year's festivities took on special meaning because the city is celebrating its 175th anniversary. The weather was nearly perfect, with blue skies and daytime highs in the lower 80s. The grand marshal for the Saturday morning parade was former Mayor Bob Anstine. Heritage Days began during his administration. The parade also featured war veterans, marching bands, and service groups. Numerous high school classes hold reunions during Heritage Days, which in a sense has become homecoming weekend for the community. Birthday cake was distributed Saturday afternoon at Chandler Park as part of the city's 175th anniversary celebration.
