Library Ready to Remodel New Space

Carthage, IL – The Carthage public library could take possession of its new building next week ... and be moving books into it by spring. Library Director Susan Hunt says the library will take over the Marine Trust bank building, which will more than double its floor space. Hunt says the bank has moved most of its materials to a new building. Once that's accomplished, contractors will begin renovations. Hunt says the first and second floors must be strengthened to take the weight of books. New entrances will be added and the building will be re-wired. The library board estimates that the move will cost about $200,000
