Lee County Ratifies Two Contracts

Keokuk, IA – Lee County and the unions representing the sheriff's and secondary roads departments have agreed to new employment contracts. Each 3-year deal includes 5 separate pay hikes for employees, including a 3% jump this July. Union members would also receive 2% hikes July 1, 2008; January 1, 2009; July 1, 2009; and January 1, 2010. Wages would increase more than 11% throughout the length of the contracts. The agreements also require a hike in deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums for single and family insurance policies. Starting in July of 2008, employes with family coverage will also have to pay 10% of the difference between a single policy and the family plan. The new deals also address changes to the policies for dealing with grievances, prescription drugs, and holiday pay. The county is still negotiating with the administrative unit.
